Our Starr DBR-1 is a compact, digital handheld Refractometer using the Brix % scale to measure sugars and TDS (total dissolved solids) in aqueous solutions.

With a wide measurement range of 0-50% and Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) it allows accurate testing of samples up to 70°C.

Just pipette 2~3 drops of sample onto the prism and press the start button. Within 3 seconds a Brix % result and temperature is displayed. It is good practice to take further measurements to ensure the temperature of the sample has stabilized to the prism for increased accuracy.

The DBR-1 has so many uses.

Mainly in food and beverage it can be used for quality assessment on the production line, batch mixing and sample evaluation.

Use on the farm, or at the markets to determine fruit and vegetable quality and ripeness.

In restaurants and catering check your seasoning of sauces, condiments and more.

Farmers can also determine the quality of their livestock's colostrum to ensure that calves are receiving sufficient antibodies (lgL) for successful transfer of passive immunity. A Brix result of 22% or higher is considered to be high quality.
