To utilise the wide testing abilities of the Starr Instruments LHT-200 series Hardness Testers, it is possible to use different types of impact devices. 

These various impact devices allow for different hardness, thickness, material and surface roughness. Also we have an option for hard to reach locations and confined spaces.

The standard supply is a D-Type Impact device. 

These additional impact devices are interchangable, and the LHT-200 has auto recognition function which detects that a different device is connected.  All the relevant settings become visible when the different devices are connected.

Below are a list of the different devices and their application;

D Type -  This is the standard supply and are used in 90% of applications.  It is a good general use device and works on material that is greater than 5mm of thickness.

C Type - impact devices are suitable for small and light work pieces from about 1mm of thickness depending on the material.  They are also better for testing materials with surface hardened layers as the C-type applies a lower force when testing.

DC Type - This unit is designed for reduced access applications.  It is much shorter than the standard unit with all the standard functionality of the D-type impact device. 

DL Type - Long nose 'pin' type is designed to gain access in areas that other gauges cannot.  Places like gear teeth, long channels, holes and recesses are some of the areas that this unit is designed for.

G Type - This unit is designed for rough, heavy objects such as castings.  It has a heavy duty device that allows for an uneven, unpolished surface.
