Our Starr Instruments FGD series Digital Force Gauge is designed for use in a wide range of industrial applications throughout Australian industry.

Most commonly in manual handling and OH&S to determine safe work load limits when pushing and or pulling materials handling equipment such as pallet trucks, lift trucks, trolleys, bins, fire doors etc.

Also used in the design and production of window and door fixtures, latches, levers; train rail switch gear; FMCG plus food and beverage packaging manufacture, food and produce firmness, pharmaceutical and many more.

Built in a metal casing for durability and with a large auto-reversible LCD display; the FGD series use a highly accurate, integrated load cell to measure the applied force in a push or pull direction in various scales. It has touch-sensitive buttons for easy operation and is fitted with an integral overload protection system with audible and visual alarm to reduce the chance of operator misuse and potential damage. A large internal memory of 1000 entries offers users the ultimate in recording capabilities with the ability to connect to your PC directly via USB for live recording or to download the data memory.

There are many different force capacities available from as little as 2N (200gf) all the way up to 1000N (100kgf). It is important to choose a gauge with suitable capacity to ensure the load cell cannot be overloaded easily when performing your testing and it is recommended to move up to the next model as a precaution, provided the display resolution is acceptable.

For example, if you are testing around 40-45kgf, consider the 100kgf version to be safe as the 50kgf will be operating up around 90% of its capacity.

Importantly, at very low test forces (200gf to 5kgf) it can be very easy to overload the load cell through accidental impact by even a thumb and forefinger!

Standard delivery kit includes force gauge, 6 standard push/pull attachments (hook, flat, chisel, cone, v-notch anvil and 80mm extension rod), USB charging/data cable and mains AC adapter, factory calibration certificate and user manual.

There are also many other optional attachments available to assist with measurement of force including T-handle grip for manual handling and OH&S, large hooks to get hold of objects, wire-pull grips, pin gauge for puncture penetration test, peel and flexure and many more. Also available are bench-mount stands to mount the force gauge and assist with the consistent load application for highly repeatable, accurate testing.
